Hi Friends!

I'm Heather, a self-taught artist and crafter. My Chinese name is Chen Cheng, but ever since I started learning English, I've been called “Heather”—a name given to me by my English teacher. When I discovered that heather is a small yet resilient flower, blooming vibrantly among rocky landscapes, I embraced the name even more. It symbolises strength, perseverance, and beauty — qualities I strive to bring into my art. That’s why you’ll also find heather flowers in my logo—they represent not just my name but my creative journey.

 

Why "From34Crafts"?

You may have noticed my logo: From34Crafts. But why 34?

Growing up in a traditional Asian household, I felt the weight of cultural expectations, where academic success was often prioritized over creative pursuits. Yet, my passion for art and craft never faded. At 34, after 14 years in the corporate world, I finally took a leap of faith—leaving behind stability to pursue what truly makes me happy. The Covid pandemic became a turning point, forcing me to slow down and re-evaluate my life. That decision—to follow my creative calling—remains the best one I’ve ever made.

 

My Creative Journey

I believe in the saying: “Interest is your best teacher.” My journey as a painter and crafter has been fueled by curiosity, online learning, and hands-on practice. While this space is dedicated to my crafts, my background as a painter plays a big role in my work. Whether it's transforming a 2D painting into a 3D model or mastering different materials, the essence of art—color, composition, and aesthetics—remains the same. Every piece I create is an extension of my artistic expression, just in a different form.

For years, I lived according to societal expectations, without the time or courage to make a change. But the second half of my life? That belongs to me—my dreams, my creativity, my joy.
